This adventure started in the town of San Gimignano, a Medieval pedestrianised city based inside 13th century castle walls. It can be a busy tourist spot, but well worth a look around before jumping on your bike and heading into the countryside.

Check out the World Champion ice-cream shop Gelateria Dondoli in the centre of town!

From San Gimignano head immediately out to the twisty Tuscan roads towards the town of Chianti and then down the SR222 to our first stop in Montepulciano.

Montepulciano is another pedestrianised castle walled town, park your bike up at the bottom and venture in for incredible views over the valleys below and delicious food. We ate at La Locanda del Cardinale, highly recommended!

After a much needed coffee, we travelled further into the heart of Tuscany in the afternoon, enjoying the roads to Radicofani. This whole area is incredibly beautiful, so enjoy the roads around our route too.

We ended the day at Agriturismo La Selvella who gave us a warm welcome, showing us around their farm and a gorgeous meal, with home-made wine, a great way to end the day.

The following morning we made our way to Bagno Vignoni. All of the roads around Monte Amiata are spectacular, so enjoy the morning there and then another wonderful lunch in the beautiful town. If you bring your swimming gear you can head to the Parco dei Mulini and take a dip in the natural hot springs.

We enjoyed our lunch at Il Loggiato close to the central square, really delicious!

In the afternoon we took the SS323 and SP55 and visited the towns of Rocca d’Orcia and Montalcino. Fantastic roads, stunning vistas all around and historic castle towns made for a great afternoons riding.

Tuscany is a region full of great roads, with a beautiful view around every corner and incredible food and wine.

Now it’s your turn, get on your bike and go and visit Tuscany!
