On Tuesday 15th November at 1:40am my son was born in a bathtub of water by my unbelievable and incredible better-half Ely!
With the expert help, guidance and support from the Simona at the Natural Birth Center the most astonishing moment of my life happened in the wee hours of Tuesday as Giacomo was forcefully pushed into this world, took his first swim and spluttered his way into life as I helplessly held the camcorder and filmed it all.
Before 8am we were all back home via the Pussy Wagon and I was making Toad in the Hole (Ely’s request) by 10am, from here on in life will never be the same.
It seems as though dragging Ely’s huge pregnant belly to the Elsinore Grand Prix on Sunday was the final straw as by the end of the dusty day and during our trip home, it seemed according to Ely’s feeling as though the big bump had shifted and was ready to leave the belly and make his appearance.
By 3am Monday, Ely was having regular contractions, at 10am she was 1.5cm dilated and it was now an active labor and hopefully soon our baby boy would be born.
In fact it was a full day hanging out in the Pussy Wagon, walking around parks and waiting for Ely to fill here boots with water….which didn’t happen until 9pm when we were thankfully back at the birthing center.
From that moment on, it was just a matter of time, waiting and getting ready for child birth – with no pain killers…. Ahhhh!
My part was easy, I just held Ely’s hand, which she regularly used to squeeze the sh*t out of during each contraction and hit the record button, while my beautiful woman pushed for all she was worth as Simona coached him out.
The last week has been a roller coaster of joy and emotion, learning lots of new skills, panic, poo, pee and little sleep…… It’s been absolutely incredible and I love being a Dad.
Anyway one thing can be guaranteed and that’s another motorcyclist has been born and I’ve already started my search for his 1st ride…..TBC
