Our Route around Andalusia started after picking up our BMW F800GS‘ from Hispania Tours close to Malaga airport, then a short blast up the highway before turning off onto the A-7000, a fun and twisty road that headed away from the city and into the mountains.
This road is great for motorcycles and includes two full loops as it climbs high up the hillside.
We stopped for a quick bite to eat in the town of Antequera, before heading into the fascinating landscape of El Torcal de Antequera Although the weather stopped us being able to experience the true beauty of this Karst rock formation, the eerie mist added a spooky dimension to our visit.
Stop at Caminito del Ray to enjoy the incredible vista of the worlds scariest walkway crossing a gorge between two sheer rock faces.
We headed to Ronda to spend the night at my friend Stuart’s awesome motorcycle friendly bed and breakfast La Perla Blanca Great, friendly accommodation, good food at the restaurant next door and a gorgeous breakfast hamper by the pool in the morning, very highly recommended!
Armed with a bit of local knowledge, we took the back route to see Ronda from the bottom of the gorge, incredibly beautiful. Take the back road off the A-374 to the dirt track road called Carretera de los Molinos to be rewarded with this view. Check the Ronda Bridge View Point on the map.
Then we took some of the beautiful roads around to lake Zahara and to small town of Grazamela. If you can spend a bit more time here as the roads are fantastic and views are stunning.
We had to head back to Malaga so took the A-366 for an enjoyable run back through the hills. The road twists down the mountainside with views over the ocean below as you approach the city.
There is a lot more to be discovered in the Andalusia region, we will definitely be back!
Now you have everything you need to have yourself an incredible Spanish adventure in Andalusia, so get out there and go for a ride!
